Day 2. What was the first episode of Gilmore Girls you ever saw (even in part)?

“That Damn Donna Reed”—Season One, Episode 14

My mom had watched the show since the Pilot and recommended it to me.  I was immediately hooked. I was 8 years old when I started watching the show. Today I’m 19 and it still remains my all-time favourite show. People find it strange how obsessed I was, and still, am. But, I’m proud to have something so special to be part of my life for so long.

Luke and Lorelai instantly became my favourite couple because of this episode. Perfection. While I ultimately didn’t ship Rory and Dean, they represented what first loves could and should be. I feel that my life has emulated Rory’s in a way. The way I watched her deal with situations taught me how to get through my own obstacles in life.

I remember thinking how cool it was to have a show with so many pop culture references from the past and present. And while I didn’t get many of the references in the beginning, as the seasons went on and I rewatched episodes I began to catch more lines that I hadn’t understood before. Gilmore Girls turned me on to classic movies, shows, music, and books that I may otherwise have missed out on.

When people ask me to describe my favourite shows, all I ever say is: “It’s not a show. It’s a lifestyle.” because it’s still one of my all-time favourite lines and is the perfect way to describe Gilmore Girls
